Clay play on the wheel with Machiko

A ceramics workshop for independent young makers, introducing handbuilding and wheel throwing in a relaxed, open studio setting led by artist Machiko Motoi.

Children are encouraged to lead their own creative process, exploring ideas rather than working towards a set outcome. Machiko introduces techniques such as cross hatching to help children build and join their clay creations, supporting experimentation and discovery over following a fixed plan.

Machiko Motoi is a multidisciplinary artist working across ceramics and drawing, and a sessional lecturer in Ceramics at the National Art School.
