LiveWire Band

Take your playing to the next level with LiveWire Band, Penrith Conservatorium of Music’s dedicated pop/rock ensemble for young musicians.

This year‑long program gives students the chance to rehearse, create, and perform contemporary music in a high-energy, supportive band environment. Across 5‑week rehearsal blocks each term, students develop ensemble skills, build confidence on their instrument, and learn how to perform as part of a cohesive band.

Guided by experienced contemporary music educators, participants work on repertoire, listening skills, creative communication, and stagecraft all while having fun making music with others.

The program includes:

• Weekly structured rehearsals
• Contemporary repertoire development
• Ensemble musicianship and band communication
• Performance preparation
• Two public performance opportunities per year

Instrumentation: LiveWire Band welcomes a range of contemporary instruments, including electric guitar, bass guitar, drum kit, keyboard, vocals and additional instruments (e.g., acoustic guitar, saxophone). Perfect for developing musicians ready to perform, collaborate, and grow in a real band setting.

Eligibility: Students must be playing at approximately AMEB Grade 5 level or equivalent on their instrument. Prior ensemble or band experience is helpful but not required.
