About this program
The Sydney Academy of Chess runs Junior Chess Clubs for players of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Each week the coach runs a lesson suited to the skill level of the children attending. Beginners learn how to play and all the rules of chess, progressing to basic checkmates and strategies. Intermediate and advanced players learn opening theories, tactics, strategies and endgames, building their calculation skills and foresight.
Children also get time to play friendly and competitive games against each other and to solve chess puzzles. Open to anyone under the age of 18. Workbooks are available for extra practice at home.
Mondays 4:45pm–5:45pm at Randwick Public School (Frances St gates; the coach meets parents before and after each session) and Wednesdays 5:30pm–6:30pm at Carss Park Life Saving Hall, Carss Bush Park, 103 Carwar Ave, Carss Park. Term fees differ by venue; enrol online with the venue's enrolment code.
