Kids Pottery Wheel Class

A pottery wheel class for kids, run at a ceramics studio, where children learn to throw bowls, cups or plant pots under small-group guidance.

The class opens with a wheel-throwing demonstration from the studio's ceramics instructor, showing the techniques needed to centre and shape clay. Children then get hands-on at the wheel themselves, throwing as many pieces as they like to practise, with the studio limiting numbers so each child gets plenty of one-on-one support.

Two of each child's favourite pieces are kept after class, then trimmed, glazed in a colour of their choice and fired by the studio into finished, food-safe ceramics that are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. All stoneware clay and tools are supplied, and no previous pottery experience is needed.
