Orchestral Explorers Music Camp

A music camp for children who haven't yet started instrumental lessons, introducing them to the instruments and workings of an orchestra.

Across the program, children:

• Meet the Orchestra: learn about the instruments that make up an orchestra in hands-on sessions led by senior ensemble members.
• Play musical games that practise the basics of music theory, including note reading, listening, rhythm and keeping the beat.
• Take a turn as Conductor for a Day, exploring the conductor's role and leading a senior ensemble.
• Work with facilitators to find the instrument that suits them, based on their natural strengths.
• Watch a live performance by the orchestra's summer ensembles.
• Attend an information session for parents and carers with tips for continuing their child's musical journey at home.
• Perform on stage at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music after their days of learning.
